Students In Grades 3-8 Are Eligible For Free 6 Week Program

New York, N. Y. – June 4, 2020—In a new effort to address the “Academic After-shocks” created by the Pandemic that has shut America down, leaving over 100,000 Americans dead, Practice Makes Perfect and the Hip-Hop Summit Youth Council (HHSYC), along with “The People’s Shark” Daymond John, Power 105.1, the Hip-Hop Coronavirus Awareness Project, Boys & Young Men of Color, Stiff Jab To The Face, the Schusterman Foundation and the Heckscher Foundation have partnered to provide “Academic Enrichment” Services and other activities  to students living in NYCHA developments and the surrounding communities.

When Covid-19 cut the school year short remote learning became the new way of teaching, but it still has many challenges, especially with those suffering from the Digital Divide.  Many educators agree that a lot of students will not be prepared for the next school year unless we find a way to improve their academic grades.  To address the issue a 6 week Program will start July 6th and end August 22, 2020.  Participants will receive 1.5 hours of live instruction with a Practice Makes Perfect Teaching Fellow and 1 hour of independent work 3x per week.

To further support the program, Mentoring, COVID-19 Awareness Activities, Apparel, Smartphones, Sneakers, Contest and Prize Give-a-ways will also be offered to winning and/or selected participants.  This also includes the opportunity to meet, internship,  mentorship, and work with “The People’s Shark” Daymond John.

Stated Charles Fisher, Founder, HHSYC “As we kick off the 9th annual Hip-Hop Against Gun & Gang Violence Campaign, with Power 105.1, the 105 Days of Summer initiative, “The People’s Shark” Daymond John, Stiff Jab To The Face and a host of other sponsors, I’m excited about the new partnership and much needed educational services Practice Makes Perfect has to offer NYC public school students.

Continued Fisher “After months of talks with CEO, Karim Abouelnaga, I truly believe he is a man of character and professionalism, with a commitment and track record of helping less fortunate students achieve their academic, personal and business goals.  With Covid-19 still on the lose we need to explore every opportunity to help students win in a world that may never be the same, even after we find a vaccine,” ended Fisher.

“Covid-19 has had a devastating impact on our public school system, especially for students living in poor and disadvantaged communities.  It’s time to think out side of the box with solutions that will prepare students for the next school year so they can graduate on time and be competitive in a new global economy,” ended “The People’s Shark” Daymond John.

Said Karim Abouelnaga, CEO, Practice Makes Perfect “I’m excited about working with the Hip-Hop Summit Youth Council,  “The People’s Shark” Daymond John and Power 105.1 as we partner and use our collective resources to produce a successful program that will help participants meet the many challenges they face during the next school year, in a Covid-19 environment that has changed the way learning is administered to our children,” ended Karim.

“This is a great project for the summer and will allow us to use the power of Virtual Learning to enlighten participants about Covid-19, as well as keep students in shape through exercising and eating the right foods,” ended The “Fitness Sheriff”.
