A shout and a lot of thanks to Morris Houses, 42 Precinct’s Community Affairs, PSA 7, and the Explorers for their combined “Family Day and National Night Out Against Crime” event. With shootings and murders on the rise citywide every little bit helps towards ending gun & gang violence. If you look at history, crime is down throughout America on the first Tuesday of August, thanks in part to the National Night Out Against Crime initiative. When the community and police work together lives are saved.
A very special shout out to P.O. Rivera, NYCHA T.A. President Sharon Grady, C-COP President Danny Barber, 42 Precinct D.I. Carlos Ghonz, and the Explorers who helped make the day a huge success.
A special thanks to Power 105.1 for the concert tickets, as well as “The People’s Shark” Daymond John, Stiff Jab To The Face, 105 Days of Summer, Guns Down Knuckle Up Campaign, Big Panda Records, Hip-Hop, Mental & Spiritual Health Campaign, and the Hip-Hop Against Gun & Gang Violence Project. All are working together to improve public safety by addressing the 4 “Root Causes” of gun & gang violence: POVERTY, ILLITERACY, MENTAL & SPIRITUAL ILLNESS. These are the targets for real “Long Term Change.” So it’s time for the Hip-Hop Community to take the lead, “Unite The Community,” and “Be The Difference.”
