The Socially Responsible Brooklyn Nets Continue To Shine On And Off The Court By Helping Students And Young Adults Cope With The Hardships Of Life And The Chaos Created By COVID-19
New York, NY — November 15, 2021 — In our continued effort to help students and young adults achieve their academic, business and personal goals the Hip-Hop Summit Youth Council has partnered with the Brooklyn Nets, Power 105.1, and “The People’s Shark” Daymond John to launch the Ticket & Incentive Project 4 Students (TIPS), which provide FREE Basketball and Concert Tickets, Gift Cards, and other prizes to participants for academic excellence, athletic success, performing community service, addressing obesity/overweightness, and ending gun and gang violence. The incentives will be used to reward participants for doing well, as well as motivate them to work even harder to achieve their goals.
Celebrities will also provide valuable TIPS to help participants hone their athletic, academic and business skills, as well as achieve their personal goals. It’s important for our stars to share their “Secrets of Success” with our youth so they can improve their life, the communities they reside, and help make this a better world.
In addition to kicking off TIPS, and to further support the recent success of the Mott Haven Houses Basketball Court Renovation Project, we will also launch the “Hip-Hop Roc The Rim” Basketball Tournament; Read 2 Succeed Through Hip-Hop & Basketball Project; Hate The Weight Challenge; and the Guns Down Knuckle Up Campaign during the upcoming holidays. It’s our hope that the generosity and support we received from Power 105.1, the Brooklyn Nets and “The People’s Shark” Daymond John will be matched by other socially responsible companies and individuals so we can expand our activities. As we approach another holiday season during a post COVID-19 environment that has devastated the lives of young citizens attending Public School, experiencing Poverty, and living in NYCHA we have a “Moral and Spiritual Responsibility” to help the less fortunate and empower the next generation with the tools for success.
Good, socially responsible leadership is hard to find, that is why we want to applaud and commend the Brooklyn Nets’ new owner Joseph Tasi and his lovely wife Clara Wu Tasi for their philanthropy surrounding a host of initiatives including the Wu Tasi Human Performance Alliance, a Foundation that will take the latest in technology and biotech off the bench and put it on the playing field. In addition, The Social Justice Fund, is an initiative driven by a 50 million dollar commitment made by the couple’s Foundation that will work to address Racial Justice and Economic Mobility in Brooklyn over the next 10 years. These are the humble actions of a “Power Couple” committed to improve humanity by empowering the less fortunate. May their “Higher Power” continue to bless them with success so they can continue to share their good fortune with the world and make this a better place to live for all our children.
We will do a follow-up story on both initiatives and other social projects the couple are involved with because this is a period when real leadership is needed as we continue to experience a public health crisis with COVID-19 still knocking at our door. We are not out of the woods yet.
A shout-out goes to CEO, John Abbamondi; General Manager, Adina Erwin; Head Coach, Steve Nash; and the Players who are talented enough to finally bring a championship to Brooklyn. We are counting on all of you to be a team player, a role model for our youth, and make this season a historic one to remember. It is important that you strive to be “The People’s Champ” on and off the court. GO BROOKLYN NETS GO.
