HIP-HOP SUMMIT YOUTH COUNCIL, WITH “THE PEOPLE’S SHARK” DAYMOND JOHN, POWER 105.1 AND THE “FITNESS SHERIFF” LAUNCH THE “POWER PRESIDENTS 4 PEACE & PROSPERITY” PROJECT ON PRESIDENT’S DAY, 2.17.25, TO PROVIDE THE NEW YORK CITY HOUSING AUTHORITY (NYCHA) PRESIDENTS WITH THE TOOLS FOR SUCCESS
The Project Was Created To Help NYCHA Residents Improve Their Development, Establish Financial Independence, and Create Generational Wealth Through Employment, Entrepreneurship, Economic Development, and Financial Education
Residents Will Use Their Buying, Political, And Social Media Power To Partner With Community Groups, Corporations, Elected Officials, and Celebrities To Achieve Their Housing, Personal, and Business Goals

In our ongoing efforts over the last 17 years to provide Public Housing Residents with safe, decent, and affordable housing, The Hip-Hop Summit Youth Council, with “The People’s Shark” Daymond John, Power 105.1 and The “Fitness Sheriff” will launch the Power Presidents 4 Peace & Prosperity (PPPP) Project to empower NYCHA Resident Presidents with the tools to improve living conditions, Financial Education, Entrepreneurship, Employment and Economic Development opportunities for tenants. It’s time for NYCHA Residents to pursue their dream of Home Ownership, Financial Independence, and Generational Wealth.

Participants will learn from “The People’s Shark” Daymond John and other executives how to start, grow, and build a successful business. The President’s job is to lead their development through troubled times, and we will help them with that task.

In addition to learning how to start a business, participants will learn how to build and repair their credit, preparing them for Home Ownership. We will also host contests and opportunities for individuals with skills and talent in music, entertainment, sports, and technology.

NYCHA receives roughly $3.7 billion from the Federal Government annually, but it’s not nearly enough to cover an estimated $78 billion budget deficit that has worsened after years of disinvestment and mismanagement.

For over 54 years, the federal government has been unable to take care of NYCHA, so it’s up to the resident leadership to work with businesses and community groups to address the many needs of the tenants. This unique Public/Private Partnership will seek support from Fortune 1000 companies like Power 105.1/iHeart Media, asking them to support the “Adopt-A-Development” (AAD) initiative to address the Social and Physical Infrastructure needs of tenants. Residents will no longer have to wait for the government to improve their lives.
“Gun Violence is the #1 cause of death for Children and Teens; Car Crashes are #2 so you can believe that we are ready to launch a few initiatives to improve Public Safety and reduce Gun & Gang Violence in and around NYCHA developments,” said Charles Fisher, Founder, Hip-Hop Summit Youth Council.

“Building a successful business through Entrepreneurship and Economic Development is how we end poverty and improve public safety. Hard work, education, and staying on your grind is the blueprint for success and acquiring generational wealth,” said “The People’s Shark” Daymond John.

“When it comes to promoting good health through the city’s HealthyNYC project, I’m ready and prepared to help NYCHA residents better understand the importance of healthcare, working out, eating the right foods, and giving thanks to a Higher Power. Heart Disease and Cancer are the #1 and #2 causes of death in America, and we have a formula that can reverse that downward trend,” said P.O.G. Recording Artist The “Fitness Sheriff”.

“I’m extremely excited about helping NYCHA residents start and grow their business. Once we get them certified they will have access to billions of dollars in government funding and other opportunities that can scale their business and lead to financial independence,” said Dr. Tammy Pate, Senior Executive Director of Business Development at New York City Public Schools.
Through this initiative, we will show NYCHA Presidents how to be more proactive in improving their development, health, finances, and the quality of life for the tenants. The leadership must work harder and smarter using technology to fix a broken system that has compromised the future of NYCHA families for close to three generations. The Road to Empowerment is never smooth, and there will be bumps along the way, but when we unite, we win. It’s time to go the extra mile for our children and seniors because they are the foundation that represents the “Past, Present, and Future” success of NYCHA.
HOW BIG AND POWERFUL IS NYCHA?
NYCHA is home to 1 in 17 New Yorkers, providing affordable housing to 528,105 authorized residents through public housing and “Permanent Affordability Commitment Together” (PACT) programs, as well as Section 8 housing. The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), the largest public housing authority in North America, was created in 1935 to provide decent, affordable housing for low- and moderate-income New Yorkers.
NYCHA has 177,569 apartments in 2,411 buildings across 335 conventional public housing and PACT developments. In addition, NYCHA connects residents to critical programs and services from external and internal partners, with a focus on economic opportunity, youth, seniors, and social services. With a housing stock that spans all five boroughs, NYCHA is a city within the city of New York.
If NYCHA were listed as a city its population would rank as the 34th city in America, bigger than Atlanta, Boston and Miami. Unofficially, NYCHA has 700,000-800,00 residents making it the 21st largest city in America on the low end and the 18th on the high end.
